Stolen goods cache discovered in Missouri

MISSOURI CITY, Mo., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Several hundred thousand dollars worth of stolen goods ranging from farm equipment to railroad containers were found at a Missouri residence, authorities say.

Clay County Sheriff Bob Boydston told The Kansas City (Mo.) Star the Missouri City residence was "the Home Depot of stolen property."

An unidentified woman was arrested after Tuesday's discovery, a child was taken into protective care and an unidentified male suspect seen fleeing the residence was being sought by authorities.

The discovery at the two-acre property occurred when sheriff's deputies showed up in response to a report of someone shooting at a dog, the Star reported.

Boydston said a number of vehicles were found on the property and police learned they had been stolen from locations like Kansas City, Kan., and Bolivar, Mo.

"It appears to be not just a local theft ring -- but one with regional impact," Boydston said.

The Star said among the other stolen items recovered were building materials, appliances, riding lawnmowers, industrial compressors and John Deere equipment.
