NASHVILLE, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- A lawyer for a woman accused of stabbing a new mother and kidnapping her baby said his client has stopped eating because she fears being harmed in jail.

Her lawyer asked a judge Monday to order Tammy Renee Silas moved out of the Robertson County Jail, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported. Isaiah Gant also said Silas has slashed her wrists and has been told by jail employees that federal marshals ordered them to withhold her medication.

"I don't know if it's true or not, but I can't get anyone to help me," Gant said.

U.S. Magistrate John Bryant said he would make a decision on Silas's status after the U.S. attorney's office investigates her allegations about the U.S. marshals.

Silas, 39, allegedly claimed to be an immigration agent to get into Maria Gurrola's home in South Nashville, stabbed her and left with her newborn son, Yahir Carrillo. Investigators found the baby at Silas's home in Ardmore, Ala., and arrested her Oct. 2.

Gant said his client reported being threatened by other inmates at the jail and had found a tack in her food.
