Time to fall back Sunday morning

WASHINGTON, Wash., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The United States will "fall back" at 2 a.m. Sunday as daylight saving time ends -- except for Hawaii and Arizona, the government says.

They're the only two states that do not observe daylight saving time. The U.S. territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and American Samoa don't observe the change either, CNN reports.

Daylight saving time used to end the last Sunday of October, but the date was moved by federal law in 2007 to the first Sunday in November.

Benjamin Franklin came up with the original concept in 1784 to help farmers work later in the evening.

Today, it's officially intended as a means of reducing electricity usage by extending daylight hours.

For most people, it just means an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning.
