NEW YORK, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- A spokesman for New York 1 said the TV channel likely will not bring back anchorman Dominic Carter following a recent judicial scandal.
New York 1 spokesman Steve Paulus said after Carter allegedly attempted to avoid facing a domestic violence charge by detailing his credentials to a judge, the cable news group is set to sever ties with the anchor, the New York Daily News reported Saturday.
"At this point, we have no plans to bring him back," Paulus said. "He's got a lot of personal issues to work through."
"That kind of behavior violates every principle of journalism and is not something we tolerate," the spokesman added regarding Carter's alleged behavior during a Dec. 11 hearing.
"My wife was profiled last month in Oprah Winfrey's magazine. I've appeared on the cover of The New York Times and TV Guide. This is not fair," Carter reportedly told Rockland County Judge Arnold Etelson during the hearing.
The New York Post said Carter was accused of assault for allegedly choking, kicking and punching his wife Marilyn in late 2008. His trial on a third-degree assault charge began Thursday.
