MTSU student charged with pushing preacher

MURFREESBORO, Tenn., Oct. 28 (UPI) -- A Middle Tennessee State University coed is facing a simple assault charge for allegedly assaulting a visiting preacher, a school spokesman says.

MTSU spokesman Tom Tozer said junior Michaela Morales was arrested after the social work student and visiting preacher John McGlone became involved in an altercation at the Murfreesboro school, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported Wednesday.

Tozer said Morales maintains she was groped Tuesday at the Keathley University Center Knoll by the Pinpoint Evangelism preacher, who was visiting the college along with two colleagues.

"A female student claims she was groped by one of the three," Tozer said. "She pushed him down some steps off the KUC and his chest hit one of the trash cans below. I don't know how seriously he was injured."

The preachers had the school's permission to visit the campus to distribute literature to students.

An unidentified spokeswoman at the university's hospital told The Tennessean McGlone was in stable condition with unspecified injuries.

Police were investigating and Morales was being held on a $2,500 bond.
