JUANITA CASTRO, SISTER OF FIDEL CASTRO SPEAKS IN THE U.S.

MIAMI, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Juanita Castro, the sister of Cuban rulers Fidel and Raul Castro, reveals in a new book that she collaborated with the CIA, a Miami broadcaster says.

Officials with Miami broadcaster Univision-Noticias 23 told Monday's Miami Herald that Castro reveals in her new book, "Fidel and Raul, My Brothers: The Secret History," that she helped the CIA in early 1960s Cuba even as it hatched plots to assassinate Fidel, overthrow his government and harm the country's economy.

Juanita didn't disclose any details of her CIA connection in an interview with the station Sunday touting her book. But she did say: "The CIA wanted to talk with me ... because they had interesting things to tell me and interesting things to ask of me. ... I was left half-shocked, but in any case I told them yes."

In the Univision report, Juanita, who broke with the Cuban revolution in 1964, reportedly says she hid government opponents in her home.

The Herald said Juanita Castro, now 76, is the fifth child of Angel Castro and Lina Cruz -- preceded by Angelita, Ramon, Fidel and Raul and followed by Emma and Agustina. The newspaper said she owned a Miami pharmacy for many years.
