Test shows McNair not father of Miss. teen

MOUNT OLIVE, Miss., Oct. 24 (UPI) -- A paternity test revealed slain NFL quarterback Steve McNair is not the father of a 17-year-old girl in Mount Olive, Miss., his representatives say.

Lou Taylor, a spokesman for McNair's estate, said test results dispute claims by Mount Olive resident Clover Lee that her daughter, identified only as J.N.L., was the result of a relationship Lee had with McNair during their youth, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported Saturday.

Taylor said in the wake of McNair's July 4 death, the NFL star's representatives prepared to receive possible heir claims to McNair's nearly $19.6 million estate.

"Very early on it was apparent there would be additional heirs,'' the Tri Star Sports and Entertainment Group official said. "We took every precaution necessary to be able to provide accurate information for potential claims."

"We were friends, and I never tried to harm him," Lee said Friday of her alleged relationship with McNair in his hometown of Mount Olive. "We dated in high school, and we kept it a secret."

McNair, 36, was fatally shot in Nashville by his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, who then committed suicide.
