N.H. representative hurt in train accident

MILFORD, N.H., Oct. 23 (UPI) -- New Hampshire State Rep. Peter Leishman said Friday he suffered minor injuries when a train he was on crashed into a tractor-trailer in Milford, N.H.

Leishman, who owns Milford-Bennington Railroad, said his injuries from Thursday's train-truck collision on Route 101 did prompt doctors to confine him to his home in Peterborough, N.H., the Manchester (N.H.) Union Leader reported.

"I'm pretty sore, but I'm going to make it," Leishman, 52, said.

Milford police said Thursday's accident occurred after the driver of the tractor-trailer stopped the vehicle on railroad tracks in a busy intersection for unspecified reasons.

The oncoming train struck the truck's trailer and rode up over the tractor portion during the accident, police said.

The truck's driver, identified as Eric Macias of Milford, survived the accident without injury.

The Union Leader said Allenstown resident David Raymond, who was operating the train, was unhurt in the crash that tied up traffic in Milford for nearly five hours.
