BEIJING, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- China said Wednesday it is ready to work with all sides including the United States to reach positive results on climate change.
The assurance came from Chinese President Hu Jintao during his telephone conversation with U.S. President Barack Obama, China's state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Hu said the December Copenhagen Conference would be an important meeting of the international community in the effort to tackle the issue.
President Obama was quoted as saying both the United States and China have taken important measures on climate change and that the two should make concerted efforts to push for concrete and meaningful steps in facing up to the challenges at Copenhagen.
Obama also said he looked forward to his China trip next month.
"China is ready to work with the U.S. side to ensure a successful visit by President Obama and further promote the positive, cooperative and comprehensive relationship between the two countries," Hu said.
