Wis. mom taught teen, who died, heroin use

BURLINGTON, Wis., Oct. 20 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin woman whose 16-year-old son died of an overdose is accused of contributing to his death by teaching him to use heroin, court records indicate.

Patricia L. Strosina, 46, of Burlington, Wis., is charged with intentionally contributing to the delinquency of a minor resulting in death, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

The complaint said her activities "encouraged and contributed to Raymond Strosina's drug use, which eventually led to his death."

Raymond Strosina, Patricia's son, was found dead in his father's Waterford, Wis., home. Used heroin-related and other drug paraphernalia were found near the boy, the newspaper said.

An autopsy showed he died of respiratory arrest and a drug cocktail overdose that included cocaine and heroin. Patricia Strosina admitted using heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana with her son, the newspaper said.

Witnesses, including a case worker whose name and agency affiliation were not reported, told an anonymous spokesman for the Racine County Sheriff's Department the boy had been shooting heroin with his mother, the newspaper said.

Patricia Strosina is being held in lieu of $15,000 bond at the Racine County Jail. I convicted, she faces a maximum of 25 years in jail and a $100,000 fine.
