LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- The California doctor involved in the case of Nadya Suleman's octuplets has been expelled from a medical organization, the group's spokesman said.
The American Society of Reproductive Medicine took the action several weeks ago against fertility physician Dr. Michael Kamrava of Beverly Hills, Calif., the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.
Kamrava's fertility treatment led to the birth of Suleman's octuplets, as well as the births of their six older siblings.
The organization said that within the last few years, it changed its rules to permit disciplinary action against members and expel them for cause.
"We have a disciplinary committee that gathers information, we give people an opportunity to explain themselves, and then we take action if the committee thinks it's necessary. It's a lengthy process. We're very concerned with providing appropriate due process," spokesman Sean Tipton said.
