NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 19 (UPI) -- NFL star Michael Vick's younger brother Marcus Vick was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail in Virginia for violating probation, court records indicated.

Marcus Vick, 25, had been sentenced to 20 days in Norfolk, Va., for violating probation in a case in which he was convicted of drunk driving, a traffic violation, and eluding a bicycle patrol officer in October 2008. He pleaded no contest Monday and appealed the 20-day sentence -- and a judge changed it to 30 days but allowed the younger Vick to serve his sentence on weekends, The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported.

He had been sentenced to one year in the prior case but the sentence was suspended and he was ordered to get counseling for substance abuse. He missed several counseling sessions and tested positive for marijuana, in violation of his probation conditions before his last hearing, the newspaper said.

Marcus Vick played football at Virginia Tech, the same school where Michael Vick was a star prior to being drafted No. 1 by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2001 NFL Draft. Marcus Vick was dismissed from the Virginia Tech team for problems on and off the field and was also released by the NFL Miami Dolphins.

He works in a shipyard, his attorney said in court Monday.
