La. man convicted of killing wife and son

Magee told authorities he fatally shot his estranged wife and son after she failed to return his phone calls.

"She wasn't calling me back, you know, and I know that sounds silly, but that's the way it is," he said.

Authorities said Magee used his vehicle to crash his wife's car into a tree and then fatally shot his wife and son with a shotgun, while also firing shotgun rounds at his two daughters, ages 7 and 8.

Magee's 8-year-old daughter, Ashleigh, was wounded. Her sister, Aleisha, 7, played dead and escaped injury, investigators said.

Magee could be sentenced to die by lethal injection or life in prison, the newspaper said.
