N.H. murder suspect was 'horrorcore' fan

MONT VERNON, N.H., Oct. 16 (UPI) -- A 17-year-old boy accused of killing a woman in her New Hampshire home was a fan of "horrorcore" rap, the teen's Web pages indicate.

The Nashua (N.H.) Telegraph said Friday it appears Quinn Glover of Amherst, N.H., was a fan of the rap genre known for songs detailing acts of bloody violence.

Three other teens are also charged in connection with the Oct. 4 death of Kimberly Cates, 42, and the attempted murder of Cates' 11-year-old daughter.

Those teens are William Marks, 18, of Amherst; Christopher Gribble, 19, and Steven Spader, 17, both of Brookline.

Glover and Marks face charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to murder. Spader and Gribble face charges of burglary, conspiracy to burglary, and robbery.

Charles Putnam, a professor at the University of New Hampshire's Justice Works program, told the Telegraph the killing of Cates with a knife and machete may be correlated to an interest in violence, such as that featured in "horrorcore" songs.

"To the extent that we do have homicide in New Hampshire, there is an observable subset of homicides that are committed by particularly young men," the former homicide detective also offered.
