WASHINGTON, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was released from a hospital Thursday after being kept overnight after a medication reaction, the court said.
Ginsburg, 76, had boarded a plane from Washington to London Wednesday when she "experienced extreme drowsiness causing her to fall from her seat," the court said in a statement. "Paramedics were called and the justice was taken to the Washington Hospital Center as a precaution" at about 11:15 p.m.
She had taken a sleeping aid combined with cold medication immediately after boarding the overnight flight, the statement said.
Ginsburg, along with Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Stephen Breyer and Antonin Scalia, was heading to London to take part in ceremonies marking the opening of Britain's new Supreme Court, Fox News reported.
She was still in Washington Thursday afternoon, court officials said.
On Sept. 24 Ginsburg was taken to the the Washington Hospital Center after falling ill at her Supreme Court office. She had received treatment earlier in the day for an iron deficiency that was discovered in July.
Her health has been watched closely since her February surgery for pancreatic cancer.
Ginsburg took her seat on the Supreme Court in 1993 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. She had been a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit since 1980.
