DETROIT, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Felony murder charges have been filed against a Michigan woman accused of starting a fire that killed two of her three young children, police say.
Sharon Hinojosa, 29, is accused of deliberately setting fire to a mobile home near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport and leaving Anthony, 4, and Alayna, 3, inside, The Detroit News reported Wednesday.
Hinojosa escaped the Oct. 9 blaze with her 1-year-old son, Aiden, whose father, Justin Whisler, was not home at the time.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Tuesday that Hinojosa intentionally left Anthony and Alayna inside the trailer to die.
"She took the child she had with Mr. Whisler and left the other two children, who had a different father, inside." Worthy said.
Neighbors and relatives told the Detroit Free Press Hinojosa and Whisler were in the process of breaking up.
Hinojosa is expected to be arraigned next week.
