Alleged burglar shot and killed in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Authorities in Orange County, Fla., said Wednesday they were investigating the fatal shooting of one suspected burglar and wounding of another by a homeowner.

The homeowner told county sheriff's deputies after returning home from an undisclosed location, he noticed burglars inside his Orange County home Tuesday night and armed himself with a handgun before entering his home, The Orlando Sentinel reported.

Sheriff's deputies said the homeowner claimed he confronted the two burglars and fired his weapon, killing one and wounding the other.

It was not reported where the homeowner obtained the firearm he used.

The homeowner then contacted authorities and responding deputies found the body of the slain suspect inside the home.

The Sentinel said shortly after the shooting, a neighbor contacted authorities to report an injured man on his property. The wounded man, who was transported to a hospital where his condition was unknown, is suspected of being the second burglar.

Police had not released the identities of the homeowner or the two suspected burglars.
