MUNCIE, Ind., Oct. 13 (UPI) -- A 21-year-old war veteran fatally shot himself while watching a zombie movie in a Muncie, Ind., theater with two of his brothers and a friend, police said.

The shooting occurred Monday night about 20 minutes after the start of "Zombieland," a black comedy starring Woody Harrelson, city police Sgt. Mike Engle told The Muncie (Ind.) Star-Press.

One of the man's companions had a gun and handed it to the victim, at his request, just before he shot himself in the head, Engle said.

The victim allegedly had been drinking before going to the theater and had argued with a theater employee after being asked to show proof he was old enough to watch the R-rated movie, Engle said.

The victim told the employee he had killed 18 people in the service of his country, Engle said. The man, whose name was not released, had served in Iraq or Afghanistan police said.
