BALTIMORE, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- A 23-year-old man collapsed while running the Baltimore marathon Saturday and later died, authorities said.
The runner, who was not identified, fell at the 25th-mile marker about 11:20 a.m., The Baltimore Sun reported.
He was pronounced dead at Union Memorial Hospital at 1:11 p.m., a hospital spokeswoman said.
The state medical examiner's office was to perform an autopsy Sunday.
The death marked the second in the 9-year-old race, formally known as the Baltimore Running Festival. In its first year, a 29-year-old female runner died after having a brain aneurysm, The Sun said.
