NEW YORK, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- A New York City couples therapist was allowed to return to the apartment she shares with her husband Tuesday, even though she is charged with stabbing him.
Joyce Poster-Lederman, 64, appeared at a Manhattan Supreme Court hearing to respond to charges of assaulting her husband with two knives Sept. 29, leaving him with cuts on his knees, right ankle and left thumb, the New York Post reported. She has another court date Dec. 17.
Judge Anthony Ferrara reluctantly allowed Poster-Lederman to go home after he was told her husband wants her there. The judge gave in after prosecutors said Seymour Lederman's injuries were not as severe as they initially believed.
Lederman, 79, like his wife, is a therapist. Poster-Lederman was quoted by The New York Times in the 1990s when the longtime relationship between Woody Allen and Mia Farrow became unglued.
Poster-Lederman is subject to a limited restraining order barring her from physically assaulting or harassing her husband. Her lawyer, Aaron Wallenstein, described it as covering "basically, stuff you're not allowed to do anyway."
Investigators said the assault began with a marital spat that turned physical.
