VIENNA, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Iran outlined "practical measures" to resolve issues surrounding its nuclear program, a joint statement with international nuclear regulators said Tuesday.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi led the Iranian delegation to Vienna for two days of talks with the International Atomic Energy Administration.
A joint statement said both sides had a "very productive meeting" that focused on "past and present issues" with Iran's nuclear program.
"Iran presented a new proposal on practical measures as a constructive contribution to strengthen cooperation and dialogue with a view to future resolution of all outstanding issues," the statement said.
The IAEA provided no further specifics. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham said the talks focused on a "new approach" to the nuclear impasse, the semiofficial Fars News Agency reported.
The IAEA this year expressed concern there may be a military dimension to Iran's nuclear program. Iranian leaders have denied the allegations but said they have a right to peaceful nuclear research as a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
"It is peaceful and it will remain peaceful forever," Araqchi was quoted by Fars as saying.
The IAEA said another round of talks was scheduled for Nov. 11 in Tehran.
