Iranian presidential field growing

TEHRAN, March 25 (UPI) -- Deputy speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard announced he's running for president in June's elections.

Aboutorabi-Fard said he was entering the race as the deadline for registration approaches, the semiofficial Fars News Agency reports. Candidates can register during a three-day period starting May 7.

Iran is to have presidential elections in June. Incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is ineligible to run because of term limits.

Candidates for the election include; Former Iranian Minister of Housing and Urban Development Mohammad Saeedikia, Second Vice Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Reza Bahonar, head of Iran's General Inspectorate Organization Mostafa Pourmohammadi and former Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.
