KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, May 29 (UPI) -- Malaysia is hosting talks between the Filipino government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

The renewed discussions follow on from those in Kuala Lumpur in April, when negotiating teams concluded "The Decision Points on Principles," contained in a document that was signed by the two groups, Malaya Business Insight reported Tuesday.

"We are hoping that the next round of talks will be able to build on the gains established with the signing of the Decision Points on Principles during the April meeting." said Filipino presidential adviser on the peace process Teresita Deles.

Marvic Leonen leads the Philippines government team, Mohagher Iqbal is chairman for the MILF and Malaysia's facilitator for the discussions is Tengku Dato' Ab Ghafar Tengku Mohamed.

The topics for negotiation and discussion include power-sharing and resources, increased Islamic people's participation and more active Shariah courts, the implementation of "Islamic principles of justice and fairness in the region to promote the efficient administration of justice" and the development of an autonomous political regime that can replace the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
