ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, July 29 (UPI) -- The British government knows full well that terrorism is a borderless threat to the international community, the Pakistani government said Thursday.

Islamabad reacted furiously to comments made in India by British Prime Minister David Cameron. Cameron during talks with officials in India said Pakistan could "do more" to control terrorism within its borders.

The Pakistani foreign minister in a response published by Pakistani newspaper The News International slammed the prime minister's comments as one-sided.

"Terrorists have no religion, no humanity, no specific ethnicity or geography," the statement read. "Terrorists' networks, as the U.K. knows full well, mutate and operate in different regions and cities."

Pakistan is facing criticism following information suggested by the Web site WikiLeaks that certain elements inside the country were cooperating with the Taliban. Cameron, as well as U.S. officials, added that it was important for Pakistan to hold those responsible for the 2008 attacks in Mumbai accountable.

Cameron in defense of his comments told the BBC Thursday that it was time for a candid conversation on Pakistani security matters.

"I think it's important to speak frankly about the problems as you see them," he said. "I mean I think that is what people expect of their government."
