Hariri discusses flotilla with Iranians

BEIRUT, Lebanon, June 1 (UPI) -- The Lebanese national dialogue should focus on Israeli aggression, not the weapons of Hezbollah, lawmakers said Tuesday in Beirut.

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri received Ghandafar Abadi, the Iranian envoy to Lebanon, at his offices in Beirut. Talks focused on economic issues and the rights of the Lebanese resistance movement, Lebanon's National News Agency reported referring to Hezbollah.

Both sides during their discussion of the Shiite resistance expressed frustration with the Israeli attack on a humanitarian flotilla during the weekend.

At least seven Israeli troops and 50 civilians were injured when the Israeli military stormed a Turkish-flagged vessel carrying aid to Hamas-ruled Gaza. Nine civilians, many of them Turkish nationals, died in the raid in international waters.

Meanwhile, Ali Bazzi, a lawmaker on the Shiite Liberation and Development slate, said Lebanese national strength was characterized by unity and the spirit of resistance.

"We have a history in resistance for we have faced the French mandate and defeated the Israeli occupation," he said.
