ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, March 12 (UPI) -- Pakistani naval forces test fired a range of missiles and torpedoes from its vessels deployed in the Arabian Sea, the navy announced Friday.
The Pakistani navy tested anti-surface missiles from the F-22P frigate it acquired recently from China. Air-to-surface missiles were fired from P-3C aircraft and Agosta 90B submarines tested surface-to-surface missiles in operations Friday, Pakistan's Dawn newspaper.
"Pakistan navy fleet today tested its fire power in the north Arabian Sea to assess lethality, precision and efficacy of its weapon system," a navy statement read.
The navy, Dawn said, did not discuss the range or technical details of the weapons tested Friday.
"While reassuring Pakistan navy's commitment of defending the motherland, this strike capability would also send a message of deterrence to anyone harboring nefarious designs against Pakistan," the statement continued.
