TEHRAN, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The Iranian air force used its radar and missile units in war games intended to track enemy fighters during a phase of military exercises.
Iran during the weekend kicked off a series of defense drills meant to display its ability to thwart a potential military strike on its nuclear facilities.
Gen. Ahmad Mighani, the head of the Iranian air force, said the five-day drill was intended to simulate airstrikes or reconnaissance on its nuclear sites.
The Iranian air defense unit in its latest exercise tested tactical radar and forward operating posts in an effort to deter disruption of the Iranian radar system, the Fars News Agency reports.
Air force and missile defense units also displayed tactics intended to trace enemy aircraft and bombers in national war games dubbed Sky Defenders 2.
The military exercises in the west of the country are meant to assess the civil defense readiness, the report said.
