NEW DELHI, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Pakistani-based militant group Lashkar-e-Toiba has no interest in expanding its recruitment beyond the region of Kashmir, a spokesman said.

U.S. authorities charged David Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana with plotting attacks on a Danish newspaper. Washington says the pair discussed the details of their plot with LeT.

Indian authorities alleged Headley has ties to Pakistani-based terrorist outfits following their interrogation of him in connection with possible plans to target Indian interests.

Indian intelligence officials also believe he conducted surveillance missions on possible targets in India during his stay there from 2006 to 2009.

LeT spokesman denied any links to the two men, saying its membership was limited to local Kashmiris, Pakistan's News International reports.

India has raised the alarm over a possible LeT attack as the anniversary of the November 2008 attacks on targets in Mumbai approaches.

Militants with the LeT seized several high-profile buildings in Mumbai on Nov. 26, 2008, killing at least 188 people.
