BEIRUT, Lebanon, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- The Israeli military will be destroyed in the mountains of Lebanon, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said Wednesday on his movement's Martyr Day.

Nasrallah offered a litany of statements during a nationally televised speech broadcast Wednesday, the Lebanese news outlet Tayyar.org reports.

The Shiite leader warned Israel that if it launches a war on Lebanon, the entire nation would rise up in defense.

"I vow in the name of the martyrs, that the whole world can send as many divisions as they want, you can send the entire Israeli army, and we will destroy it in our mountains," Nasrallah said.

U.N. officials warned both Israel and Hezbollah to honor their commitments enshrined in a 2006 cease-fire agreement that calls for restraint on both sides.

Nasrallah's comments come just days after the Lebanese government of Prime Minister Saad Hariri formed a new government following months of political turmoil. The new Cabinet includes two ministers from Hezbollah.

Nasrallah addressed the political issue during his speech, calling on all parties to work together in the new government.

"Every single party has the right to suggest any political issue, but I call for calm before doing so," he said. "Let us not move from one crisis to another."
