DHAKA, Bangladesh, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Bangladesh authorities have ordered the bank accounts of the Hizb ut-Tahrir frozen and have seized the banned group's properties.
The Bangladesh government ordered the country's central bank to freeze the bank accounts of the banned organization, citing its Anti-terrorism Act of 2009. The move Saturday came on the same day as police raided the Hizb ut-Tahrir's central office in Bangladesh's capital of Dhaka, the Daily Star reported.
The government announced it has also blocked the Web site of Hizb ut-Tahrir, a group banned in Bangladesh and suspected of having ties to terrorism.
The government actions on Saturday follow earlier moves on Oct. 22 that resulted in the banning of other Hizb ut-Tahrir activities.
