TEHRAN, June 15 (UPI) -- The successful re-election of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a blow to Israeli, which fears Iranian military power, Iran's defense minister said.
Iranians voted in a hotly contested presidential election Friday, securing a second term for Ahmadinejad. The official vote tally, however, was met with sweeping suspicion, leaving Tehran in a state of organized bedlam.
Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar said the re-election of Ahmadinejad put "the enemy" in a "state of chaos" considering advancements in nuclear and military technology under his tenure, the Iranian Press TV reports.
He pointed to advancements in uranium enrichment and the successful launch of several long-range missiles as a testament to the success of Iran under the Ahmadinejad administration.
"We have also witnessed the success of Iranian scientists in manufacturing three domestic-made submarines in Bandar Abbas," the defense minister said.
Iran in recent weeks unveiled several new lines of military technology, including three stealth submarines and a rapid-fire 40mm anti-cruise missile canon, dubbed Fath.
Najjar said those developments, including a missile capable of reaching Israel, have scared Israel out of launching strikes on Iran.
