BERLIN, April 29 (UPI) -- Three Germans are infected with the swine flu first detected in Mexico, officials from Germany's disease control center said Wednesday.
The infected people, one man and two women in their 20s and 30s, are tourists who recently returned from Mexico, according to officials from the Robert Koch Institute. The patients, who have been isolated in hospitals in Hamburg and Bavaria, are in stable condition.
German health authorities are currently testing several more suspected cases all over the country.
Meanwhile, public concern over an outbreak of the swine flu in Germany remains high.
Doctors at Frankfurt Airport boarded a plane Tuesday with 263 passengers who had arrived from Mexico, German daily Bild reports.
The doctors inspected two passengers who had alerted crew members because they had shown flu-like symptoms during the flight. Both cases proved to be false alarms.
Bild said roughly 9,000 German tourists are still vacationing in Mexico, most of them near Cancun. Airlines have vowed to fly them out for free if space permits.
