MANAGUA, Nicaragua, April 7 (UPI) -- Interpol's secretary-general has signed a deal with security authorities in Latin America to cooperate on combating terrorism.
Ronald Noble, Interpol secretary-general, during an official trip through Nicaragua on Monday signed an agreement with the Commission of Police Chiefs of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean that strengthens international cooperation on combating transnational criminal groups and terrorist organizations, Interpol reported.
Noble, who is on a two-week mission to Latin America scheduled through Wednesday, said the agreement is a measure to reinforce regional and international cooperation and represents a commitment to combat all forms of transnational crime.
"I am delighted that the cooperation agreement with the Police Chiefs' Commission has been signed here in Nicaragua, which has repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to the global law-enforcement community," Noble said in a statement.
