WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation announced the appointment of a new assistant director at the agency's cyber investigation unit.

FBI Director Robert Mueller named Shawn Henry as the new FBI Cyber Division assistant director. Henry, who has an almost 10-year history of computer criminal investigations, will replace James Finch, who has been assigned to be the special agent in charge of the FBI's Oklahoma operations, the FBI reported.

Henry has been working as the FBI's deputy assistant director of the Cyber Division since 2007. A veteran of the FBI since 1989, Henry has worked extensively on public corruption and criminal computer intrusion investigations.

In 1999, as field supervisor of the FBI Baltimore office's Computer Crimes Squad, Henry had "responsibility for investigation of computer intrusion and computer fraud matters, computer forensic examinations and technical operations," the release said.

Henry has also served as the FBI Philadelphia field office assistant special agent in charge and in a senior support role for the executive assistant director of the FBI National Security Branch, among other posts.
