SINGAPORE, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Singapore defense officials announced the launch of a new urban combat training facility designed to simulate realistic training exercises.
Singapore Defense Minister Teo Chee Hean on Friday presided over the opening of the new Murai Urban Training Facility. MUTF, located in the Lim Chu Kang training area in northwestern Singapore, is designed to train soldiers to develop progressive network capabilities in realistic simulated environments.
Officials say soldiers participating will be equipped with new advanced combat technologies that provide units with a larger networking capability for urban combat. The MUTF is also designed to look like a regular town, including bus stops and traffic lights, to enhance its realistic training presentation.
"The facility will be equipped with tools that help simulate varying operational environments as well as a video monitoring and recording system to facilitate effective learning," the release said.
