WASHINGTON, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Top U.S. Air Force officials, working to reorganize after a recent leadership shake-up, have returned the department's mission to a straightforward approach.

Acting Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley, Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz and Chief Master Sgt. Rodney McKinley, along with other top officials, recently met at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., to discuss implementing new Air Force reorganization efforts, the Air Force reported.

The Air Force leaders addressed near-term issues and strategic planning, outlining a renewed focus on key initiatives to restore credibility to the Air Force.

Former Air Force Gen. Michael Moseley and former Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne were ousted in June in the wake of a several mishaps and concerns over accountability and mismanagement.

At the meeting, the group established a streamlined mission for the Air Force to "fly, fight and win ... in air, space and cyberspace."

The Air Force leaders also discussed strategic concerns over top priorities that include "reinvigorating the nuclear enterprise, prevailing in the global war on terror, strengthening joint war fighting capabilities, focusing on people and achieving acquisition excellence," Donley said in a statement.
