British take out second Taliban leader

LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, July 16 (UPI) -- A second leader of the Taliban terrorist network has been killed during British operations in Afghanistan over the last two weeks.

British troops, working to dismantle the Taliban strongholds in Afghanistan's volatile Helmand province, killed a Taliban key facilitator and logistics operative by the name of Bishmullah. Additionally, a recent British Apache helicopter strike resulted in the death of Sadiqullah, another senior Taliban leader, the British Ministry of Defense reported.

Bishmullah was allegedly responsible for attacks on coalition forces through the use of improvised explosive devices, among other militant operations.

"Combined with the elimination of Sadiqullah, this is the most significant blow struck against the Taliban logistics and facilitation chain in northern Helmand this year," Lt. Col. Robin Matthews said in a statement.

"It should provide a clear and simple message to the Taliban: If you are working to undermine the efforts of the Afghan government, or you are targeting our troops or Afghan civilians, you will be found and you will be stopped."
