Ukraine intel to boost cooperation efforts

KIEV, Ukraine, July 14 (UPI) -- Ukrainian officials announced a new collaborative effort to bring together the country's intelligence services.

During a meeting Monday in Kiev, top officials from the Department of the Defense Ministry Intelligence of Ukraine and the country's Foreign Intelligence Service announced plans to further cooperate on security concerns in Ukraine, the Defense Ministry reported.

The joint working meeting, at Ukraine's military intelligence central office, brought top intelligence officials together to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation on the military and other security and political policy concerns.

Officials worked to address power distribution and information exchange issues, among other intelligence concerns.

After the meeting officials announced a new accord to "further jointly work to develop an efficient model of Ukraine's security sector which should ensure fulfillment of tasks to detect, prevent, localize and neutralize the new and potential threats to Ukraine's national security," the release said.
