CAIRO, June 24 (UPI) -- Egypt's top information technology official says a new government center designed to counter Internet threats is nearing completion.
Tarek Kamel, Egyptian minister of communication and information technology, said Monday a new Internet crisis management center is in the process of being completed. Officials say the center will coordinate with other cyber-security centers, including an operation from the Singapore government, the Egyptian government reported.
The Egypt Internet crisis management center's connection to a global Internet security network is an effort to establish enhanced procedures and policies to counter emergency cyber-threats.
Kamel cited plans to develop stronger ties with the Singapore government's Internet security operations. He said an Egyptian delegation is in the process of setting up a visit to Singapore to discuss cooperation between the two countries.
