TSA names new security head for Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y., June 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Transportation Security Administration has named a new director of federal security at Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

TSA officials announced Derek DePietro will head TSA security operations at Buffalo Niagara in northwestern New York state, which includes operations at Niagara Falls International and Chautauqua County airports, the TSA reported.

DePietro, a 25-year law enforcement veteran, takes the new post after serving as the Erie (Pa.) International Airport transportation security manager and as assistant federal security director for screening at Pittsburgh International Airport.

"Rick's professional track record speaks volumes of his dedication to TSA, and we know he will provide excellent leadership as the federal security director," Mo McGowan, TSA security operations assistant administrator, said in a statement.
