
NEW DELHI, April 7 (UPI) -- India said it doesn't rule out a threat from China to the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh.
Defense Minister K. Antony" class="tpstyle">A.K. Antony said the government was giving top priority to improving the standard of the infrastructure of the armed forces in the region, especially in areas such as Tawang. China claims the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh.
Antony made a whirlwind visit to the army's Kameng sector in Arunachal Pradesh Sunday.
"We are keeping a close eye on the developments on the Indo-China border and a slew of development measures for the armed forces, based in this part of the country, is in the Defense Ministry's scheme of things to combat the possible threat from the other side of the border," Antony said.
"Last time, there were some hiccups, which we don't want to repeat. We want the armed forces to be on their toes all the time to fight out any kind of threat, be it from outside or within, and a slew of modernization plans would soon be put in place in this regard," he said.
