BAGHDAD, March 17 (UPI) -- Special Iraqi security divisions uncovered a weapons cache and arrested several suspects in a roadside bombing ring in various raids.
An Iraqi Special Weapons and Tactics team operating in the northern Ninawa province arrested several men involved in the distribution and placement of roadside bombs and small arms fire attacks on Iraqi and U.S.-led forces, the U.S. military said in a statement.
In Iskandariyah, about 30 miles south of Baghdad, an Iraqi SWAT team uncovered a weapons cache thought to be part of al-Qaida in Iraq arms supplies.
There were several rockets and artillery rounds in the cache, including one 152mm artillery round rigged with a detonation cord and fuses.
A member of the grassroots security force Sons of Iraq handed over a weapons cache containing 12 anti-tank mines and several missiles to U.S.-led forces operating in Arab Jabour just southeast of Baghdad.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi police located a secret room in a house in the Jabella neighborhood of al-Ressalha, south of Baghdad.
A search of the room uncovered various components used in the construction of roadside bombs, several mortar rounds and nearly a dozen grenades.
