NEW DELHI, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Indian security agencies say terrorists are planning to assassinate newly re-elected Gujarat State Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Federal security agencies have warned Lashkar-e-Toiba, which India regards as a terrorist group, is planning to kill Modi and have asked the state government to further tighten his security.
Over the weekend the Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party romped back to power in the state. Although he has brought economic progress to Gujarat, Indian human-rights groups say he turned a blind eye to anti-Muslim violence in the state in 2004.
