Lt. Gen. Mohan Pande to leave office

NEW DELHI, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- The Indian director general of military operations announced Friday he plans to step down from his appointed office.

Lt. Gen. Mohan Pande announced his plan to relinquish the appointment after a long career with various commands including staff assignments as brigade major of a brigade, colonel general staff of a mountain division and additional director general operational logistics at Indian army headquarters, the India Government news reported.

Pande as director general of military operations has been closely associated with the conceptualization and development of various doctrinal issues for India's Ministry of Defense.

The ministry also announced that Vice Adm. Birinder Singh Randhawa, often recognized as the senior-most technical officer of the Indian navy, will assume the appointment of chief of material in integrated headquarters after the vacancy left by Vice Adm. DSP Verma.

Vice Adm. Dilip Deshpande will tomorrow assume the appointment of controller of warship production and acquisition in the integrated headquarters.
