VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- A single wildfire in Canada's British Columbia has scarred nearly 100,000 acres, officials said Sunday.
The Binta Lake fire, the largest of many wildfires in the province, was about 20 percent contained, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
Officials told the network the blaze, located southeast of Burns Lake, was not expected to get significantly larger because of cooling temperatures and a rise in humidity, though needed rain wasn't expected before Monday or Tuesday the CBC said.
The Binta Lake fire has been raging since July 28. It is suspected lightning started it.
The fire forced the evacuation of more than 100 people in the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako with hundreds more warned to be ready to flee their homes.
