Palestinians ready to shift diplomacy

JERUSALEM, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The Palestinian Authority will reveal a new diplomatic strategy with a lesser role for the United States in its long-running wrangling with Israel, sources say.

The shift will be announced Sunday at the United Nations, the Israel news agency Ynetnews reported Wednesday, citing Palestinian media reports.

The plan will seek the support of the international community for the declaration of a Palestinian state and will minimize the U.S. role as a mediator between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Ynetnews said the move comes as some Palestinian leaders have been reaching out to other nations while talks with Israel have bogged down.

Ynetnews said the Palestinian delegate to the United Nations is to speak to the General Assembly Sunday, though the content of the speech had not been revealed.
