Libya, Turkey drop visa restrictions

TRIPOLI, Libya, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Turkey and Libya will end visa requirements between the two countries, their leaders say.

The announcement came Tuesday from Libyan Prime Minister Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmudi as Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Trade and Industry Minister Zafer Caglayan visited Tripoli, the Anatolia news agency reported.

"Our two countries reached an agreement to end visa requirements," Mahmudi reportedly said.

The news agency said the visa easing coincides with efforts by Caglayan to strengthen Turkey's business ties with Libya, through which Turkey has begun projects worth $21 billion in Libya. Caglayan told the news service that Libya has promised to set aside business worth billions of dollars to Turkish entrepreneurs.
