YANGON, Myanmar, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Thirty-one people died and 19 are missing after a ferry boat capsized in Myanmar, the country formerly called Burma, official sources said Tuesday.

Unnamed official sources told China's state-run Xinhua news agency that the accident happened Sunday night in Myanmar's southwestern Ayeyawaddy division, when the ferry boat sank after colliding with an oil barge on the Ngawun River.

A total of 176 passengers were reportedly on board the ferry. Some 126 passengers survived and are being treated, the news agency said.
