KRAKOW, Poland, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- A wild boar roaming Krakow, a Polish city of 750,000, seriously injured two men before hunters killed it after a several-hour chase, authorities said.

Wild boars, common in Krakow's suburbs, had posed no threat to people until a few days ago when the one killed Friday bit and gored two men, Polish Radio reported Saturday. The men were hospitalized.

An association of hunters kills between 70 and 90 wild boar each year in Krakow to control the population.

Wild boars are not a protected species in Poland and more may have to be killed if they pose a danger to humans, local officials told Polish Radio.
