Wife poses as child to trap husband

CARDIFF, Wales, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- A 68-year-old South Wales man was arrested on charges of pedophilia after his wife posed online as a schoolgirl and then tipped police, authorities said.

David Roberts, 68, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Cardiff Crown Court to engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, The Daily Mail reported Thursday.

Roberts avoided jail time but was given a three-year community order and banned from contact in person or online with anyone under age 18. Community orders can involve compulsory unpaid work, mandatory counseling and a range of supervisory requirements.

Roberts wife, Cheryl, 61, said she was shocked by the lack of jail time after figuring out her husband was contacting girls and using a Web camera to carry out acts of sexual indecency on himself, the Mail reported.

Cheryl Roberts said she posed as a schoolgirl and trapped her husband by using another computer in their home to contact him.

"I did the right thing and I don't regret it," said Cheryl Roberts, who is divorcing her husband of 20 years.
